Troopers responded to mile marker 68.2 in Barnegat at around 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, according to state police. George Francis, 34, of Lanoka Harbor, was driving an SUV south on the parkway when the vehicle went off the right side of the road.
The SUV went down a ditch and hit a retaining wall, along with several trees. Francis was ejected from the vehicle and died from his injuries.
A 34-year-old Lanoka Harbor woman was in the front passenger seat and suffered serious injuries, state police said. Two children in the back seats were not injured.
State police are investigating the crash.
